NightmareFeed: Horror News and Entertainment

Reed Alexander

(He/Him) I've had multiple books and short stories published. I specialize in the terrifying, macabre, and the bizarre. My current publishing house is Madnessheart.Press. While my influences clearly include H. P. Lovecraft, I believe I was more directly influenced by Sci-Fi horror writers Harlen Ellison and Robert Heinlein. Indeed, my all time favorite novel is a collection of shorts The Deathbird Stories, by Ellison. Even my choices from more contemporary writers like Stephen King tend to default to Sci-Fi horror. My favorite King novel being Tommyknockers. My All Time Top Horror Movies are, 1) Alien (1979) 2) John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) 3) The Thing (2011) 4) Suspiria (2018) 5) Doctor Sleep (2019) While that list is ever changing, it's highly unlikely that anything will ever dethrone the number 1 and 2 spot; Alien (1979) I frequently refer to as 'The Perfect Movie.' Bio: Originally, my first projects were meant to be graphic novels, but drawing the same character consistently was not a discipline I'd ever explored. Not being able to afford a graphic artist, I simple produced them as self published written novels. I'm also a political scientist, my primary education being Political Theory and Policy, which I received from SUNY at Albany. It deeply effects my writing as much as the horror media I've consumed since a young age. It also directly impacts my critical opinions of horror in the media. I'm a godless man, being a sort of Atheist known as an Apatheist. To me, the existence or nonexistence of God is both philosophically and morally irrelevant. Morals are a human construct and do not exist outside of our society. Because morals do not exist, we can choose what is moral, and in fact do so all the time. He explains, human morals have been fluid since the dawn of civilization. We can use our history and our science to chose which morals are the best for society. The target, as I see it, is maximum equality politically, socially, and economically. For this reason, I'm feverishly pro LGBTQAI, pro woman's rights, and pro treat your fellow human equally (a hill I'm willing to die on). Disciplined empathy is of the highest importance. For that reason, I've made a pledge to be as inclusive in my writing as possible to represent often overlooked communities. As I see it, this is a true reflection of reality, as we are a very divers species in race, nationality, gender, and sexuality.
